Inside the paper

We set out why four capital-intensive domains (energy, aerospace, defense, and quantum) are moving together from innovation to infrastructure, and what changes when a technology stops being a bet on adoption and becomes something the rest of the economy is built on. We work through the demand drivers behind each domain, from AI-driven load growth and electrification to great-power competition and the commercialization of deep science, then apply a picks-and-shovels lens to show where the durable, infrastructure-like economics sit as each one scales.

The second half takes up the practical question for an allocator. The opportunity set is widely understood, so the scarce edge is access: reaching the right managers and companies early and with better information, often well before anything reaches the public market. We describe how we build that access, the discipline we apply to underwriting, and how the same approach carries across the KEY portfolio.

Who it is for

Allocators, operators, and advisors who want a structural read on the frontier build-out rather than a survey of individual technologies.
