General Partner, Frontier Markets

Jake Piccoli is a General Partner at KEY Investment Partners, where he helps lead the firm’s Frontier Technology programs and the continued development of KEY’s investment activities across emerging technology markets. Jake works across investment sourcing and evaluation, strategic development, and the expansion of the firm’s broader Frontier Technology platform, helping identify compelling opportunities in sectors characterized by technological disruption, evolving market structures, and significant long-term growth potential.

Jake brings a combination of institutional investment experience and firsthand operating experience to KEY’s investment process. Having spent his career as both an investor and entrepreneur, he brings an operator’s perspective to assessing business models, growth strategies, capital needs, and management teams. Jake works closely with investment managers, founders and operators to understand the underlying businesses and market dynamics shaping new industries, as well as the challenges associated with building and scaling companies.

Jake also plays a central role in KEY’s capital formation and investor relations efforts, working with institutional investors, family offices, and other sophisticated allocators to develop long-term partnerships. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience across private markets, entrepreneurship, and investment management, he helps translate complex and evolving markets into actionable investment perspectives for KEY’s investors. Jake is particularly focused on building relationships between the firm’s investment ecosystem and its capital partners, helping connect differentiated investment opportunities with investors seeking exposure to emerging areas of long-term growth.

Jake is also a Founding Partner at Traditional Digital, a digital asset investment management firm, where he helps drive the firm’s strategic direction, capital formation and business development initiatives. At Traditional Digital, Jake has helped build the firm and its institutional relationships while developing a deep understanding of digital assets and the broader digital economy. This experience has provided him with a unique perspective on the intersection of traditional finance, technology, and new forms of capital formation.

Prior to launching Traditional Digital, Jake founded Clean Republic, a chemical manufacturing and distribution company. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer, he built the business from inception, scaling operations across multiple states while overseeing strategy, sales, distribution, operations, and organizational development. Jake ultimately guided Clean Republic through an exit. His experience as a founder and CEO gives him firsthand insight into the challenges of building a company in dynamic markets.

Earlier in his career, Jake spent nearly ten years at Partners Group (SIX: PGHN), a leading global private markets investment firm, where he worked alongside KEY’s founding members. During his tenure, he contributed to fundraising efforts and the deployment of more than $900 million across private real estate investments. His time at Partners Group established the foundation of his investment career and provided extensive experience across institutional private markets, investment underwriting, and global capital formation.

Jake holds a BA in International Economics from the University of San Francisco. He lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife and two daughters.
